Mary R. Uphold, 94, Friendsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at

Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.

Born Jan. 18, 1904, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the

late Milton O. and Grace D. (Sisler) Friend. She was also

preceded in death by her husband Clarence A. Uphold on Oct. 31,

1960, and one daughter, Grace Uphold.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Uphold, Friendsville; four

daughters, Hazel Uphold, Granville, W. Va., and June Landon,

Janet Sisler and Judith Frazee, all of Friendsville; one brother,

Ray VanSickle, Friendsville; four sisters, Goldie Chidester,

Bruceton Mills, W. Va., Pauline Frazee, Friendsville, Mary Teets,

McHenry, and Ruth Williams, Springfield, Pa.; 21 grandchildren;

and 11 great- great- grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville.

A service was conducted at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 15, at the Laurel

Run Church of God, with Pastor Cathy Harman officiating.

Interment was in the Blooming Rose cemetery.
