John B. Friend

John B. Friend, aged 73, died suddenly last Thursday, May 18, at

his home

near Swanton. Born at Swanton, January 8, 1888, he was a son of

the late

John B. and Harriett Comp Friend.

He was a retired county roads employee.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel Chadderton Friend; three daughters,

Mrs.

Eileen Warnick and Mrs. Paul Romesburg, Baltimore; Mrs. Florence

Tichnell, Mt. Lake Park; four sons, Weston W. Friend and Leroy C.

Friend, Swanton; James W. Friend, Culver City, Calif.; and John

B.

Friend, Jr., Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Warnick,

Swanton;

Mrs. Anna Landis, Keyser; and Mrs. Mary Saville, Romney.

The body was taken to the Leighton Funeral home.

Mr. Friend was a member of the Methodist Church at Swanton and

funeral

services were conducted from there Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock

with Rev.

Clarence Winkler officiating, assisted by Rev. Eugeen Matthews of

Oakland. Interment was in the George cemetery.
