> Born Aug. 11, 1920, in Friendsville, he was a son of the late

> Richard H. and Sophia M. (Sisler) Friend. He also was preceded

in

> death by one grandson, Gary Edwin Friend Jr.; one

great-grandson,

> Jesse Ray Kreger; three sisters, Flossie Hook, Evelyn Ruth Fike

> and Mildred Strawser; one brother, Huston H. Friend; and two

> infants.

>

> Mr. Friend was a retired self-employed truck driver and also

> drove for Sisler Lumber and Gribble Trucking. He also worked

for

> Gribble Transport doing trade shows for Mack Trucks. Mr. Friend

> was a member of the Blooming Rose United Methodist Church.

>

> He is survived by his wife, Doris Alice (Humberson) Friend; two

> sons, Gary Edwin Friend Sr. and Donald L. Friend, both of

> Friendsville; two daughters, Nancy R. Gribble, Rockwood, Pa.,

and

> Connie J. Burow, Friendsville; 12 grandchildren; 22

> great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

> Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A.,

> Friendsville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

> Services will be conducted at the Blooming Rose United

Methodist

> Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Milliren

> officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to

the

> services.

> Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
