Mrs. Frances Friend Chidester, widow of William H. Chidester,

died in Fairmont, West Va., on Tuesday of last week, it was

learned from a newspaper clipping from that city.

 

Mrs. Chidester was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Prudence

Friend, pioneer residents of Garrett County, and was born

November 17, 1852, at Deer Park.  She was the eldest of nine

children, only one of whom is still living, C. S. Friend, of

Cumberland, who was the youngest of the family.

 

Mrs. Chidester was the mother of six children.  Three sons

preceded her in death and three daughters survive: Mrs. T. A.

Albright, Misses Zora and Josephine Chidester, all of Fairmont;

also two grandsons, Eugene and John Albright.

 

Mrs. Chidester had been a shut-in for the past twenty-three

years.  She had been a member of the Methodist church from early

childhood.  Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Denver C.

Pickens, with interment in Woodlawn cemetery, Fairmont.
