Mrs. Elizabeth Anna Friend, widow of the late Joseph D. Friend, died at her

home east of Deer Park on Monday, December 2. Death occurred suddenly

following a heart attack.

Mrs. Friend was born January 18, 1872, at Swallow Falls, a daughter of

Jonathan and Susan Lewis. She was aged 68 years.

Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Laura M. Flanigan and Mrs. Hattie E.

Hardesty, Deer Park; Mrs. Olive V. Lewis, Oakland; Mrs. Ella M. Hiles,

Cumberland; Mrs. Stella M. Arnold, Lancaster, Pa.; Henry Friend and A. Ray

Friend at home. Also by 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild and the

following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Malinda C. Friend, Friendsville; Joseph

H. Lewis, Emoryville, W. Va.; Daniel F. Lewis, of Crellin; John R. (may be

"B", copy smudged) Lewis, Friendsville and Florence Lewis, Hutton.

Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the

Methodist church at Deer Park with Rev. Garrett Evans, pastor of the

Methodist church at Mountain Lake Park, officiating. Interment will be in

the Deer Park cemetery.
