Mrs. Edith E. Friend, 78, of Swallow Falls, died Friday at

Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Sines, Md., she was a daughter of the late Rev. Henry B.

and Harriett (Mankes) Sines. Her husband Brunner F. Friend died

in 1942.

Mrs. Friend was a member of the Sunnyside Chapel.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Matthews, Glen

Richey, Pa.; Mrs. Ruby Fike, Rawlings; Mrs. Alice Werdebarugh,

Oakland; four sons, Clarence Friend, Wellington, Ohio; Delbert

Friend, Crellin; Stanley Friend, Oakland and Donnie Friend,

Charleston; a stepson, Garland Friend, Mt. Lake Park; 30

grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Stewart Funeral

Home with Rev. Jonas Sines and Rev. Arley Zeigley officiating.

Interment was in the Bray cemetery.
