Delbert R. (Pap) Friend, 63, of Oakland, died Sunday, March 9, at

Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Sines on Oct. 3, 1922, he was a son of the late Brunner

F. Friend and Edith E. Sines Friend.

Mr. Friend was a retired coal miner and was a member of the Rocky

Drean Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura A. (Werdebaugh) Friend, two

daughters, Mrs. Norma J. Rodeheaver, Oakland; Mrs. Mona L. Metz,

Mt. Lake Park; one son, Allen R. Friend, Oakland; one sister,

Mrs. Alice Werdebaugh, Oakland; three brothers, Clarence Friend,

Wellington, Ohio; Stanley Friend, Oakland; Donnie Friend,

Charleston, W. Va.; one half-brother, Garland Friend, Oakland;

and five grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral home, where a

service was conducted Wednesday by the Rev. Robert Mayfield and

Pastor Homer Mellott.

Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
