CHARLES E. FRIEND

Charles E. "Buck" Friend, 61, Oakland, died Friday, March 23,

2001, at his home.

Born Aug. 3, 1939, in Crellin, he was a son of the late Paul E.

Friend Sr. and Mary J. (Sowers) Friend.

He was a timberman and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean

Conflict.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Pifer, Clarksburg,

W.Va.; eight sisters, Margaret Strawser, Amboy, W.Va., Barbara

Losh and Irene Thomas, both of Terra Alta, W.Va., Sharon Wilson

and Patty Alexander, both of Crellin, Charlotte Metz, Accident,

Jean McGinnis, Oakland, and Darlene Roy, Corinth, W.Va.; and one

brother, Paul E. Friend Jr., Crellin.

Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where

a service was conducted Monday, March 26, with the Rev. Dennis

Leatherman officiating. Interment was in the Ashby Cemetery,

Oakland.
