Obit.

Mrs. Blanche Emma Friend, aged 68, died last Thursday, February 28, at her home on route 2, Swanton, following an illness of two weeks.  She had been in failing health eight years.

Born in this county she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha Uphold Comp.  Mrs. Friend was a member of the United Pentecostal church.  She was the widow of Walter Friend.

Surviving are three sons, Darrell Friend, at home; Daniel Friend, route 2, Swanton; William Friend, Mt. Lake Park; three daughters, Mrs. Opal Tressler, New Salem, PA; Mrs. Ruth Dean, Oakland; Mrs. June Quinn, of Missouri; a brother, Roy Comp, Deer Park; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Huggett, Poquoson, Va.; Mrs. Nellie Ault, Heincoe, O,; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Minnich Funeral home in Oakland and later to the home of her son, Daniel Friend.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the United Pentecostal church by Rev. Roy J. Riffle. Interment was in the Glendale cemetery.
