The death
of Samuel Miller April 29, 1901:
Samuel Miller was doing his spring plowing and there was a brush pile at the
edge of the field and he wanted to remove it so he could plow close to the
woods. He decided that there was no wind, and he set it on fire.
Then the wind started to blow and he was afraid that it would set the woods on
fire. He called for help and he and his wife tried to put it out but it got in
the woods, he ran around it to head it off and was caught by the fire and died
the worst kind of death. He was found laying across a log that had
completely burnt up, they claimed there wasn't much left to bury.
THIS WAS MELVINIA'S FATHER - HER MOTHER THURSEY DUCKWORTH HAD DIED AND HE
REMARRIED A WILT LADY.
